Fourth Grade Here We Go

With each new year I get filled with excitement and anticipation. This year I have made a move up from TK to 4th Grade. Since I am just finishing moving into my wonderful new classroom and becoming familiar with 4th Grade I am still trying to figure out where everything will work best. This will be my 21st year as an educator in the PLESD. I have taught students from TK-8th Grade during my tenure and I was a sit administrator prior to starting my own family. I currently serve on the Cobblestone Crocs PTO and I am proud to say that all four of my own children will be attending Cobblestone with me this year. I truly believe our campus has some of the most amazing staff members and students and I am proud to have been part of the Cobblestone family since the beginning.

I can't wait to meet all of my new faces and I know we are going to have a great year together. Most likely most of the students and I will know each other a little bit if thy were here in Kinder or 1st. I am looking forward to seeing all of my new students on Tuesday, August 13th for Back to School Night. The classroom will be open from 5 to 6:30 for you and your child to come and meet me and take a look around our room. The First Day of School will be Thursday, August 15th and students may be dropped off at the cafeteria as early as 7:40. Our school hours are from 8-2:30 and on Mondays students are released at 1:30.

New Year Approaching

I always get excited as each new year approaches. It is a chance to revamp my classroom, try new things and meet new students. Of course I am lucky enough to already know most of my students since I get to loop with them. I have loved the experience of looping because I know where most of my students are at the beginning of the second year which allows me to get leveled groups up and running right at the beginning of the year. I know this year is going to be a " Super" year! Watch for upcoming updates and I am looking forward to seeing all of my students on Monday, August 15 for Back to School Night.

Conference Week

This week is going to fly by and the schedule is crazy. School gets out on Monday at 1:30 and  Tuesday at 2:30. Then students are released at 12:00 the rest of the week to allow teachers and parents to meet and discuss individualized learning goals for all students.

In class we will be focusing on the letters 'Ii" and "Tt." We will also be reviewing our HFW's and focusing on "the." During math, we are still working on numbers 1-10 primarily with a focus on representing them using tally marks. We will continue to have fun as we read and learn about penguins.

The Week Before Thanksgiving

This last week I am sure will fly by. We have 2 different hats to make a turkey and a native american head dress. We will also be squeezing in a  few other themed crafts. We will conclude our week with a Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. The students will enjoy the same treats as the Peanut Gang while they watch the movie. The student surprise this week will be that on Friday we are planning a comfy P.J. day. This is always one of our favorite type dress up days.

Oops...in the homework section the word "can" accidently appears twice. One of them should be "the."
