What’s Happening January 11, 2016

Martin Luther King, Jr
On Monday, January 18th we will not have school in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Throughout the week we will be talking about him and his achievements.
ELA
In the mornings we will be focusing on two letters a week.  This week we are working on the letters “a” and “m.” We will be reviewing letter recognition but shifting much of our attention to letter sounds. We are also starting guided reading groups. Each child will have their own bag of books in the classroom that they are able to read independently.

 Homework for this week:
ELA
Monday “am” paper: trace it, box it, color it and write it.
Tuesday “am” paper read the sentences and color in one circle for each.
Wednesday “am” paper read the sentences and color in one circle for each.
Thursday “am” paper read the sentences and color in one circle for each. and color in a
MATH
Students practice counting as high as they can and writing numbers 0-10 at their ability level.
